Skiing, by its very nature, is not a year round sport. We are now at that time of year when the last few skiers are making the most of the last few dregs of snow available to ski on. A recent news report stated that the Boreal Mountain Resort near Tahoe was enjoying its last few days of trading – quite a late finish compared to many other locations in the world.

Most people will have heard of the Ski Club of Great Britain, but they also have a website that is packed with news items of all kinds. Even though the ski club is based in Great Britain it also has lots of news items relating to ski areas all around the world.

If you are looking out your window now onto a nice bright and sunny day, it might be hard to think back to earlier in the year when we were all under several inches of snow.

There are plenty of people out there who absolutely love skiing. But this does not necessarily mean they are in the right physical condition to do so. For example if you have weak knees or you simply aren’t used to taking this form of exercise, you might want to work up to it first.

The Winter Olympics for 2010 has just come to an end in Vancouver. It wasn’t a particularly successful event for the British, although traditionally the Winter Olympics is not our best sporting occasion anyway.
