Arinsal
Arinsal is a village located close to the border between its native country Andorra and Spain. It’s a small country and the fact that many people don’t know where it is probably explains why Arinsal can get overlooked by some skiers.
But it’s a great place for beginners to start learning. And while there are well established hotels to stay in, there are plenty of new ones too. You can rely on the quality of the snow too, as the slopes are heading for the 2000m mark.
This is a popular resort with many Britons, perhaps partly because it boasts many English speaking instructors. It’s also only a relatively short flight from the UK, sandwiched as it is between France and Spain.
This is a traditional ski resort and even when you aren’t on the slopes you’ll have a great time enjoying the hospitality of the area. And with more than eight feet of snow each year, there’s plenty to enjoy.
Pas de la Casa
Skiing in a mountain pass has to be an exciting prospect, and that is what you will get here at Pas de la Casa. It’s part of the huge Grandvilara skiing opportunity that also offers several other resorts close by.
There are over thirty ski lifts here, and plenty of slopes to get to grips with. It’s the ideal resort to consider if you want to keep the cost of your holiday down, although it does tend to attract a younger clientele because of this.
The resort in general is better suited to those skiers who already have some experience. While you will no doubt enjoy a holiday here if you have never skied before, there will be less slopes that you can tackle. The experienced meanwhile, may find it a little tame for their needs.
However there are dozens of bars and restaurants to try out during those times when you’re not on the slopes.
Soldeu
Soldeu might be a small village, but it offers a great skiing opportunity to those willing to take it. It is very popular with Brits, and there are plenty of ski lessons on offer to those who need them. There are also some themed lessons on offer, so if you’re past the learning stage and you’d like to try some alpine skiing you can do it in Soldeu. And for the little ones there is a kindergarten that will keep them amused while you are learning.
The village itself isn’t the best example of architecture in Andorra, but with that said you can still grab the chance of soaking your aching feet in a five star hotel room if you wish.
This area is popular for beginners more than anyone else. You certainly won’t find too many experts here, since the slopes are not dramatic enough to attract them.
